Once you’ve exported, edit the file in whatever you like — Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets — then bring it back.
Import the edited file
Go to Update CRM and drop your edited file in (or choose it). Upcells reads it back using the metadata it wrote on export, so field types and dates are interpreted correctly. Pick the connection and confirm the object, then choose Compare with Salesforce.
Review the diff
Upcells shows a field-by-field diff against the current Salesforce values, grouped into:
- New — rows without an Id, which will be inserted.
- Modified — rows where one or more fields changed. Expand a row to see each field’s current value next to the new value.
- Unchanged — rows with no changes (skipped).
- Errors / warnings — for example a picklist value that isn’t valid in your org, flagged before you write anything.
Nothing is written to Salesforce until you click Apply. This is the safety net — you always see exactly what will change first.
Apply
Click Apply changes. Upcells writes via the Salesforce Composite API in batches of 200. If a record fails, you see exactly which one and why, without affecting the records that succeeded — fix the spreadsheet and re-sync only the failed rows.
Dates
Excel stores dates as serial numbers. Upcells detects these on import and converts them back. If your locale uses DD/MM or MM/DD, set your preference in Settings so ambiguous dates are read the way you mean them.
